Go Gators! I too participated in the community gardens back in the early 80’s. So powerful to hear the basics that have been lost. When my Dad was stationed at Eglin AFB, my parents bought a in the area. My Daddy, from east TN, understood cultivating the soil for his garden. The sandy soil changed many years later. As a young teenager, it started with putting grass clippings in the new compost. Then all the veggie peels, etc, were collected at the kitchen sink then put in the compost at night. I was amazed over the next few years to watch and observe the changes to the compost pile on the side of our house. Then the earthworms started to appear!Little did I know the generational knowledge I learned by helping with the family garden. Thank you Scott for your insight to share the essential truths to replenishing our soil. ~Tami
